What is it all about?

Running Shoos is an initiative developed to build on Shoosmiths’ commitment to corporate social responsibility. By inviting any and all Shoosmiths employees and clients to take part in a variety of charity events, the initiative aims to raise money both for the national Charity of the Year, and for the local organising Office Nominated Charity.

Not just for the hard-core runners amongst our contacts, Running Shoos aims to cater for everyone’s fitness levels, and activities planned include all kinds of running events across the country. So whether you would like to do a leisurely 1km walk followed by a nice cup of tea or a gruelling 2 day adventure race followed by a days rehydration, your local Running Shoos co-ordinator can help.

The grand plan is to help members of staff, clients and friends of Shoosmiths to participate in events that they would otherwise not have the opportunity to do so, whilst raising money for charity.

Helly Henson Adventure Race Oct 2007

2 Teams - 1 Purpose, to complete the gruelling Helly Henson Adventure Race Oct 2007!

Shoosmiths Adventurers - Stephen Cock & Heidi Tibbenham Raised £750 for Brain Tumour UK and completed the distance in 3 hrs 47 Ranking them 99/237.

Shoosmiths Team ACE - Andrew Patterson, Jermey Ellis & James Macintosh completed in 4 hrs 8 ranking them 155/237 (not bad for their first attempt!!)

Once again the Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge at Longmoor Army Camp
came up trumps with the weather. It was a repeat performance of last year
with brilliant autumn sunshine throughout the race, but when arriving in
the early morning it was time for the woolly hats and gloves as the frost
was still set hard on the ground and the surrounding forests harboured
some lingering mist.

The route was challenging for novice racers, consisting of a 2 mile Dune and Bog Run
followed by 2 rounds of the 16 Mile Technical MTB route and another 6 mile mixed bag assault through bog and lake by Kayak. The whole thing culminated in a gruelling Assualt course!

While a little crazy at times - a great time was had by all!!

Further adventure races will be available for the 2008 Season, so If you are interested in joining in please contact - Andrew Patterson
